Update

Yes it's been 5 months more or less since the last blog post I made. The trip to Sagada, Banaue was okay and I passed my design 4 class. But now, I'm currently struggling to pass my design 5 class. I've sacrificed time, effort and health in this class, and I still don't know if I'm gonna pass or not. The sad part is that after all this hard work, I might have Carpals Tunnel Syndrome. It's a wrist injury obtained from stress using a mouse or keyboard. Right now I'm risking my right hand to pass a single architecture major class. I hope all this sacrifice will be worth it.

As for my Magic: The Gathering life. In our school there are still only a handful of decks that can beat my Blue-Black Faeries. Kudos to those decks and players that do so. As for, my other two tribal decks (Kihtkin and Rogues) they pull up their own weight and have their own share of victories. My current project is a Blue-Black Ninja deck for my friend, Johann. Currently still sorting out the cards but it's all good. I'll be trying to create a deck for the Mirrodin Besieged block, hope all goes well if ever.

I;m currently struggling to finish my design for friday so this'll be a temporary entry. Yes, I've been both lazy and busy to do my blogs.

God loves me..'cause..

Hello World!

Yeah, been awhile since my last blog 'cause I've been trying to find something nice to write about. Guess what, I got it this afternoon.

Design 1 class was a bore as usual, so after the long lecture we got to drawing and the usual chit-chat. Then suddenly my friend blurted out, "Hey guess what, I found out God loves me over the weekend!". You don't usually hear this kind of story everyday, a person found out God loves him or her, so we thought this story would be great. His tale went like this:

"My stomach was churning the whole way and I was like 'Oh~ shiiiit~, come on please let us have a stop over'. I was holding my stomach not trying to look like i was having a tummy ache. Emil and the other fed me hell lots like bread, bread with cheese, donuts and before that we had hotdogs...I only had water so I doubt that made my stomach hurt..I was like 'Please God let us have a stop over!'. My stomach was already making weird sounds, and I felt it was about to come out. Just as it was about to the bus slowed down, and we actually got to a bus stop. Which I didn't expect..."

Well rest of the story goes on and he got to poop properly and had a great trip over the weekend. After the side comments, laughter and sarcastic comments I was reminded. Reminded that God doesn't have to make miracles for us to show that He loves us. He already does, everyday, God shows His love for us in the littlest things. Sometimes so little and simple we overlook them.

So God thank you for the classmate who lets me borrow his/her pencil in class, thank you for not letting me trip when I walk, thank you for keeping me safe as I cross the road, thank you for the toothbrush I put on my toothpaste.

Think about it... my friend found God's love through a toilet dilemma..what about you?

Old Beginning and New End

Hello World,

It's been approximately its been 6 months or more since I last wrote. I haven't been able to get any good topics out of my brain, I hope to soon enough.

So far life is great. My mother recently had a successful heart operation last march(thank you God!), one of her heart valves had to be replaced 'cause it was collapsing. My dad kept his cool all through out this ordeal, sure he got annoying and irritable once in awhile but it was understandable. I think in my end I handled it well, studies weren't affected much. They leave for Brunei early June. My sister is great, though I still have difficulties being patient with her (I think it's due to the age gap). I feel like I'm a horrible brother.

Speaking of studies grades are doing fine, except that one of my tests went horribly wrong I failed big time. Half the term is done, so it's assholes & elbows for the other half. Scale models are due soon, so I gotta work on those too.

My MTG career is now sort of no more, I still play casually but the tournaments are on hold for now. I wanna concentrate on school and save up.

Guess that's it for now. Will try to write something more sensible asap.

Wow! What a day! I haven't had a decent amount of sleep for 24 hours! So far I'm good, I'm starting to feel the fatigue a little but hey I got the reports done!

I single-handedly created and passed a computerized report for my Theory of Architecture 1 this morning. I had some help from one of my groupmate and little or too late help from the others. I haven't slept a wink since 10pm last night. I barely got any shut eyes on the bus on the way to school. The girl I sat with kept moving around. Once I got to school I just added the papers of my groupmates to the Appendix part of the report. While waiting for the professor I started on the Building Technologies report on Chromium and Copper. Halted presentation making since classes began. 1030am I continued the report making, one of my groupmates for that class gave me his data in his USB so had time to synthesize it into the report. Then rested awhile and did other school works. By 12noon the rest of my groupmates handed in their USB drive to me and I was able to make the presentation in time. Presentation was moved to Wednesday, I could breathe a litle now.

Two more tasks to go, Visuals and Plumbing Design which are due Wednesday and tomorrow repectively. So I think I won't be sleeping well for the next 24 hours. Back to work now. I guess the only things I'm looking foraward to for the eman time is Thusrday and the Pauper Magic tomorrow.

It's been a normal, non-scary Halloween. It's November 2, I'll be going back to school tomorrow. It's been a satisfying 3-day holidays are almost done. The other people of the house will be back later this afternoon. As good as it may sound, I'm a little bit sad. I don't know why I have this feeling, it's just there.

(sigh) In 28 days, I'll be celebrating my 3rd year anniversary in this archipelago. A lot has happened since I left that island. I lost and gained many things. I escaped the island without having a going-away-party, which I didn't mind. That same year I left I got into a technological institute and started to aim for an engineering degree. Which I eventually quit and took up architecture instead. Living away from my parents I thought I was free, and that the people here understood me more. At first I didn't really miss them at all. But as time passed, I eventually felt a longing for them. I got closer to them even though we were oceans apart, especially my father.

The next year I lost my girlfriend who is also a very,very close friend. I never did tell her why I let her go. Up until now, I haven't forgiven myself for hurting her, and from hurting my mom. I hid the relationship from my own mother, I lied to her. I have never forgotten that day I made my mom cry because of my selfishness. I hated myself for doing that. After the break-up, things got a little out of hand in the island. My mom got depressed by the incident, and I still blame myself for that. I was one selfish b******* back then, and I hated that part of me. Up until now, I still live with the guilt of the many sins of my past. I can never forgive myself for hurting my mother, and I don't think I ever can.

Last May, I went back to the island, I was happy to be back. I kept a low profile as much as possible. Seeing only people that really mattered a lot to me, my second parents, close friends, and the bishop. I helped mom around the house, played with my sister after her school. I ate a lot, I missed my mom's home cooked meals. In short bye-bye fit and sleek body. Went out to lunches with second parents. In truth, there was an acquaintance I really wanted to see, but hid from. I hid because, I didn't know how to react or what to say when I see that person. But I was set-up and saw her. We talked a lot, sort of a catching up. It was great, just talking as if we were so close before (which we weren't by the way). For the first time in my life, I felt really sad as I left for the island 3 weeks later. As my dad drove me to the airport, I cried as I told them all the things that were going through my mind. My mom cried as well, my dad did his best to keep his composure, and my sister was clueless to why I was crying. It was so hard to leave them this time. I wanted to stay for good, but couldn't, I had to finish school at the archipelago.

I miss that little-boring-island.I miss home.

Happy Stormy Halloween

Well Typhoon Storm Santi, aka 'Ramil' is here in Philippines is thankfully passing through swiftly. Still hoping that the intesity of the storm won't be bad for those ihn the storm's path. This morning here in Las Piñas Ramil passed by with only strong winds and light rainshowers. We had electricty cut off from 3am up 'till 10am. But all's well.

Tomorrow's Halloween aka All Souls Day. During November 1st it is part of the Filipino culture to pay respects to their dead by visiting their graves. But sadly, people these days bring playing cards, booze, sound systems, etc. into the cemeteries and entertain themsleves after paying respects. It's truly sad that the younger generation see this behaviour and would probably do the same when they grow up. We must remember that we are paying respects to our dead kin, we are to pray for their souls while lighting candles for them, not using their nitsos as card tables. Why are we to drink in front of their graves?! People drink to be merry or to drown their problems or sadness in them. Are we being merry for the death of a loved one? Are we trying to drown our sorrow of losign the ones we love, when what we're supposed to be doing is remebering all the memories they gave us be it good or bad. Those blasted sound sytems! Please do tell me what's the use of playing music on this halow day!?!?!

Please let us all rember the treu purpose of Halloween in our culture. that is to pay respects to our beloved dead. For we want to be respected and rembered as well once we depart this world. Let us not forget our prayers and candles.

Back in business

Ah at last, time to write a little and live a little.

Let's have a re-cap. During the past month Philippines was struck by two of the most violent storms in her history, Ondoy and Pepeng. Not only did our people suffer sever trauma, but our economy also suffered. Oil and food costs went haywire, flooded settelments, and a slow Government to back it up. But in these troubled times we Filipinos haven't failed in helping our fellow countrymen. Be it through volunteer work or through online appeals, we showed the world how united we can be and how strong we Filipino truly are.


During the Ondoy storm. I was very thankful for being stuck in a bus for 16 hours from morning 'till the next morning, only eating one pack of fish crakers. I or rather we have so many things to be thankful for, we have no right to complain about the life we have right now.

School year 2009-2010, Term1 ended several weeks ago. With a 1 week 'Storm-Vacation' and the Semestral break, our school calendar is now haywire! The term ended well for me with no failing grade, but I know I could've done way better if I didn't slack off much. 2nd term began last October 19, last Monday. I got five majoring subjects enrolled,and hopefully I get exempted on lecture subjects by the end of the term, so I can have a proper Holiday. I'm really looking forward to spending Christmas with my family in Brunei. I really miss them, my mom, dad and sister. Second week just beagn so I guess, it's gonna be back to workin' hard. Aim for Uno!

Now, for the Magic the Gathering segment. As all Magic players know Lorwyn Block has rolled out, and the new Zendikar Block has been released. Zendikar with it new Landfall mechanic has made mana-ramp and aggro decks more efficient. But with all these new decks being formed, let's pause and take a breather and remember one of the most powerful decks in Magic History, the Faeries. Since I started out with the Alara Block, I wasn't able to use these fierce-flying faeries in the game. So I decided to make a casual faerie deck, minus the Bitterblossom and expensive land cards. Here's the decklist, which is still kind of a W.I.P., this Fae deck is a mid to late game deck.

Update

Been awhile since my last post. Thing happened since then. Busy with catching up with school work. So not much postsing recently.


Last July I attended the Magic the gathering Philippine Open 2009, at Glorietta 5 Atrium, in Makati. I signed up for the Alara block Constructed tournament (a side event to the MTG Philippine Nationals 2009). I used my one and only Infiltrator Deck (a Bant-based deck). I met up with most of Team Iloilo. They were cool, friendly too. I also met my 'Magic Master' Mark Ian, funny thin was were wearing matched outifts. Hahaha.





1st part of the touney,1st Round I was up against a Jund-Aggro deck. 1st game I won in 4 turns thanks to Noble Heirarch, Rafiq of the Many, and my favourite Jhessian Infiltrator. Dealing an unstoppable 10 damage on turn 3 and another 10 at turn 4.

2nd round Started with a good hand, then started to draw only lands, able ot lay only 2 Jhessian Infiltrators. I lost badly having 1 of 2 of my Infiltrators blasted with a Bituminous Blast, followed by a cascaded Blightning. Leaving me with 1 Infiltrator, and no hand. With a Sprouting Thrinax on board and a Jund Hackblade, at turn 6 opponent played a Bloodbraid Elf (which was a nightmare). He cascaded a Blightning(leaving me down to 11). He went with an all out attack leaving me down to 2, and finsihed me off with another Blightning.


3rd round I took my Sideboard cards (C.Purge, Valeron Outlander, Hindering Light). but wasnt able to draw any of them. My game went from bad to worse. With only an Infiltrator and Rafiq by Turn 4, i dealt him enough damage at turns 4,5 and 6 leaving him down to 2, me with 8 life points left. With one fell swoop at turn 7, my opponent strikes back with a force. Rafiq was MalestormPulsed, followed by a Bituminous Blast, forcing out a Bloodbraid Elf, followed by a cascaded Blightning. Leaving me defensless, and with no hand and went drom 8 to 2 in one turn. With an empty board I took the final blow from the infamous Bloodbraid Elf.

2nd part of the tourney,round 1 was again matched up with another Jund Aggro-Deck. Went all out in this match-p, dropping a Heirarch at turn 1, Jhessian Iniltrator at turn 2. by turn 3 I dropped a valeron Outlander to stop the Sprouting Thrinax on the march. By turn 4 dropped a Finest Hour, allowing my Infiltrator o dish ou a total of 11 damage. by turn 5, dropped a Rafiq to finish the game without a scratch on me.

Bumpity-bump in the night

Having a great vacation with grandma so far. Playing video-games and Pokemon cards with cousins, visiting relatives, and drop by my Grandfather and Uncle's graves. It drizzles a lot here in Batangas. So I get a runny nose once in awhile.


Something creepy happened at the house thought. My cousin was using the PC upstairs, opposite the door of the room I stay in. While working he said he saw a Shadowy figure pass by, which got him s*** scared that he actually got a fever the next day. That same night while I was watching a show in one of the local networks, I heard footstep just outside the master bedroom. They were these heavy steps walking across the floor upstairs, but I didn't mind it was having a good laugh with the show.


So today, I decided to visit my Uncle and Gramps graves, 'cause my Aunt thought that naybe there just 'sending a message' that they need a visit. Coincidentally, July 16th is My Grandfather's, Nicolas Delrosario's death anniversary. When I got to the memorial park. I was irritated and annoyed that they dumped trash and dried leaves on top of their graves. I thought that's why they made their presence felt, someone dumped stuff on their graves. I first cleaned their grave stones, pulled out some grass, and put up two candles, one for my Uncle and another for my Grandfather.



When I got back home, my Aunt said that maybe spirits like to ahng around me. 'Cause the only time things go bum in the bight here, it's when I'm around. I don't know what to think now. I think I'll be off the graveyard shift on my online life. Haha, lay low, don't wanna see things.

I’m signing in early ‘cause I wanna get some good sleep tonight.

I’m at staying over at my grandmother’s house. Had a short 3-hour road trip, which I slept through. I was just gonna see roads, trees, cars and more cars, nothing special. Got down at a road diversion, took a ‘Jeepney’ (the famous public utility vehicle of the Philippines). Then got down at the local market, visited my aunt’s loading station then bought some bread, after which I took a tricycle (aka trike) to my grandmother’s house, which took less than 10 minutes to do all in all.

Had lunch of course, just got done playing a game in PS2 then went through my card box. And lo and behold. Beyond my Magic cards, lay my first cards, Pokemon cards. So I decided to make a deck out of all the cards in the pile. I came up with a Fire-Fighting Deck with Machamp, Raticate, and Arcanine as key monsters. Gust of Wind, Bill, Energy Retrival being the key Trainer cards.

My Budget Bant/Budget Blue-White or Blue-Green deck I still under creation. So hard to make an effective budget deck that revolves around the colors of Bant (Blue, Green, White). So, to make the deck a little faster, I decided to chip in cards that allow you to Cascade, and my favourite card so far Finest Hour. To top Finset Hour off, I added cards that provide Exalted ability. Now all that’s missing are the creatures. Tsk!

So anyway, before today (yesterday of course) I fried Bangus (Milk Fish) for lunch. When I put the fish in the hot oil, oil splatterd and scalded my right arm a little. So today my featured topic is about Burns and Scalds.

Step 1:

You will need

• 1 non-stick sterile dressing
• 1 roller bandage
• 1 adhesive tape

Step 2:

Soothe with cold water

Now help the person hold their injured limb under running cold water for at least 10 minutes. This will ease the pain by helping to cool the injury and keep the skin well hydrated. If there is no water to hand, try cold canned drinks, milk or any other harmless non-flammable liquid.

Step 3:

Make the person comfortable

Make the injured person comfortable. If possible, help them to sit down at a table where you can put your first aid supplies.

Step 4:

Wash hands thoroughly

Now, using soap, wash and dry your hands thoroughly and put on a pair of disposable gloves if available

Step 5:

Remove jewellery or restrictive garments

Remove any jewellery, watches, belts or restrictive clothing from the injured area in case of swelling
If blisters develop be careful not to burst them

Step 6:

Apply burn cream

Read the instructions carefully before applying the burn cream. If there are any blisters be careful not to burst them, as this might cause an infection.

Step 7:

Apply dressing

Cover the injured part with a non-stick sterile dressing to help stop infection. If there is blistering, make sure the dressing extends well beyond the edges of it.

Step 8:

Apply bandage

Next bandage the dressing loosely in place. Watch VideoJug film ‘how to apply a roller bandage' for the full technique.

Step 9:

Check circulation

Once you have finished, check the circulation of the injured limb by pressing on one of the nails or skin of the hand until it becomes pale. Then release, and if the colour does not come back within 2 to 3 seconds, then circulation is likely to be impaired and the bandage too tight.
Take the bandage off, if this doesn't improve circulation, remove all restrictive bandaging, hold dressings in place and immediately seek medical advice.

Step 10:

Seek medical advice

You should seek medical advice if you are worried about the severity of the burn. Be aware that when any skin is burned away there is an increased risk of infection which may develop at any point before the wound is fully healed

Delayed Flight

At last, the first day of a short vacation before the new school year and new term begins. Nothing out of the ordinary occurred. Just a regular day. Went to school just so I could not stay at the house. I don't have anything to do anyway. Of course as usual I played Magic the Gathering with a friend. He didn't have a deck so had to deck share. But it was ok, was able see what what areas my deck needed work on.

Before heading home a went to a hobby shop on the way and played there. Met this guy named Chuck, Chuck of the Many..decks (it's an MTG joke, you won't get it if you don't play..so play!). Chuck had 4 decks, which I only saw 3 in action. First one I saw was his black-red Goblin deck for standard, which was an aggro (aggressive) type deck of course. Since the goblins were small, it got backe up by Voracious Dragon. The other two were both aggro decks, Esper and Naya. I did fairly well against his naya deck. But against the 'robots' of Esper, well it wasn't that easy since I couldn't block flyers early in the game. Only choice was to charm or path the critters. But overall,had a good time.

I'm supposed to head to my grandmother's tomorrow to visit. Of course I'll be staying for a few days there. But I decided to delay the visit 'till friday. The houes needs wtching the whole day tomorrow. I'm not that disappointed, just that I'll be alone. The house, all to myself. Oh~ yeah! Hehehe.

I have no feature today. I'll go into the world and think about one.

Mixed Feelings

Well, I just finished my Mechanics finals. I was so tense, got mental block. Probably will fail Mechanics. On the brighter side, I got really high grades for my Architecture subjects. So I hope, my average gets pulled up.

Now, instead of school and magic. Our topic is Cake. That's right cake. When we say cake, you probably think flour, icing, ovens. Well, not really hehe. This is what we call a sandwich cake, i dunno where the recipe was taken from but it's easy, simple and good.

OREO SANDWICH CAKE

You need:

- 1 Loaf of white bread (preferably Gardenia)
- 2 long rolls of Oreo cookies
- 1 small can of Evaporated Milk
- 1 small can of Condensed Milk
- 1 small carton of All-Purpose Cream


What you do:

1. Separate the oreo cream from the cookie. Then take the cookie pieces (the black round pieces) and crush it. How fine the cookies are crushed is up to you. Set aside.

2. Take a bowl and mixed in the oreo cream, condensed milk, evaporated milks and all-purpose cream. Mix it very well, set aside in the fridge.

3. Take your white bread, and remove the sides, leaving only the white bread itself.

*The excess bread sides can be blended with the cream sauce you set aside in the fridge. Or you can rip it into shreds and turn it into something creative, like croutons or just eat it as it is.

4. Take a rectangular container and thinly pour in the cream you previously made.

5. Then put in your bread slices eventually making a layer of cream and bread.

6. Then, agan evenly and thinly pour in some more of the cream, after that evenly cover the cream with a layer of crushed oreo cookies.

7. Repeat steps 4-6 until you get a layer of cream-bread-cream-crushed cookies-cream-bread-...

It should look something like this

*the oreo part should be thinner, but it's your cake so get creative! :)







8. Refrigerate for 3 hours. Then eat

Finest hour

I went to school for nothing yesterday.. Only to find out that the professor was absent. But anyway, the day wasn't all bad. I got a copy of Plant vs Zombies and tested my new Bant Deck.

I deviated a little from the usual bant deck build in the Alara block, chuckin in Capture Sunlight an Enlisted Wurm. The cascade abilty of both those cards made the difference. With captured sunligh, allowing me to play cards with 3 or less casting cost, and Enlisted Wurm Giving me a free Rafiq o the Many or Battlegrace Angel! Here the run-down of th two decks I play tested my deck on:

Esper Mid-Range Aggro: 8 games

I think my win rate was this black die that i found on the table I was playing on. It was just sitting there the whole time I was playing. So, i just took it when no one came to pick it up. My first good luck charm..hahaha.

Once again, it's a 50-50 day.

I screwed up my Mechanics mid-term. So I'm gonna make it up in the finals, this Tuesday. It's the day of reckoning for Mechanics and the last day of hell week. Another crap thing that happened is my older cousin got sick, and not looking that pretty.

On the brighter side, I barbequed an almost perfect pork barbeque and catfish. Furthermore, I had my first online article published in MTG Iloilo's website. I know it's about Magic the Gathering and deck building only. But still, it's not everyday that you get an articleof yours published online. Thanks Magic Iloilo.

Finally, check out this 1/1 scale Gundam modle made by the Japanese! According to source, they built this because of this statement to the Koreans... "They may have nukes, but we have GUNDAM!".

It's sunday, and night's still early. I think I'll watch some TV or play a video game.

Could be better..

It's a long tiring and sickening day. My body had problems in its sewer lines, and had a sinusitis attack. To make it worse, I wasn't able to study for my Mechanics quiz.

So lazy and care-free side kicked in, I decided not to take the quiz. I won't be able to answer anything anyway. Instead, went to University Mall and played Magic the Gathering at Ongkeco. Where part 2 of a bad day began. I lost in all playtest, my Bant (Blue-White-Green) deck didn't stand much of a chance. Bladers run over, Angels shot down, Rhox's sent back to monasteries. *sigh* I don't know what to build anymore. I'll be trying White-Green, hope it works.

But this day wasn't all bad. It started out well hen I talked to my mom over the pphone while I went to school. Unloaded some stuff, which i usually do. Thanks mom.
